The South African host family
Your South African host family welcomes you with open arms and looks just as much forward to learning more about your country, traditions culture, as teaching you about theirs. There is great contrast between our countries, and this makes the exchange so much more rewarding.
Most STS students choosing to study in South Africa are placed in and around Cape Town and along the coast in the south towards Durban.
The magnificent surroundings make outdoor activities a central part of each South African's life. They spend lots of time out in nature, for instance hiking, fishing and sports of various kinds. A so-called "brai", i.e. a barbecue, is something you will surely take part in. Then all friends and acquaintances gather to socialize and eat a tasty meal together.
