Lucas var utbytesstudent med STS i Minnesota, USA 2015\/16. Hans familj i Sverige har varit v\u00e4rdfamilj tre g\u00e5nger och Lucas har jobbat som lokal koordinator (LC) f\u00f6r STS under 2022 och 2023.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hur m\u00e5nga studenter har du varit LC f\u00f6r?<\/strong>Jag har varit LC f\u00f6r fyra studenter; en fr\u00e5n USA, tv\u00e5 fr\u00e5n Tyskland och en fr\u00e5n Brasilien. Alla var underbara!<\/p>\n

Vad inneb\u00e4r det att vara LC?<\/strong>Att vara LC inneb\u00e4r att man \u00e4r en form av support f\u00f6r utbytesstudenten och v\u00e4rdfamiljen. Ansvaret varierar men det viktigaste \u00e4r att se till att utbytesstudenten och v\u00e4rdfamiljen \u00e4r n\u00f6jda. Det \u00e4r absolut inte l\u00e4tt att vara utbytesstudent, men du som LC kan bidra till att g\u00f6ra erfarenheten s\u00e5 mycket b\u00e4ttre. Detta kan vara att ta en fika, bowla eller vad man nu kan tycka \u00e4r roligt. Jag tog \u00e4ven med alla mina utbytesstudenter p\u00e5 paintball tillsammans med min lillebror som \u00e4ven han har varit utbytesstudent.<\/p>\n

Ut\u00f6ver detta inneb\u00e4r jobbet att hitta nya v\u00e4rdfamiljer. I arbetet har man hj\u00e4lp av STS personal som \u00e4r v\u00e4ldigt st\u00f6ttande. Jag har alltid f\u00e5tt hj\u00e4lp om jag har haft n\u00e5gra fr\u00e5gor eller funderingar.<\/p>\n

Varf\u00f6r best\u00e4mde du dig f\u00f6r att bli LC?<\/strong>Jag k\u00e4nde att jag kan relatera v\u00e4ldigt bra till b\u00e5de utbytesstudenten och v\u00e4rdfamiljen och att jag skulle kunna bidra till att ge en bra upplevelse. Jag har ju sj\u00e4lv varit utbytesstudent, min familj har varit v\u00e4rdfamilj, och jag har \u00e4ven jobbat utomlands. Jag k\u00e4nde \u00e4ven att det kunde vara superkul att g\u00f6ra roliga saker ihop med utbytesstudenterna. Det har varit toppen att ha min bakgrund och men man beh\u00f6ver absolut inte ha samma erfarenhet som jag.<\/p>\n

Hur har jobbet p\u00e5verkat dig?<\/strong>Jag har f\u00e5tt nya v\u00e4nner; mina utbytesstudenter h\u00f6r fortfarande av sig till mig \u00e4ven om jag inte l\u00e4ngre \u00e4r deras LC. Det \u00e4r \u00e4ven v\u00e4ldigt l\u00e4rorikt att bolla id\u00e9er och tankar kring utbytesstudentens kultur och hur de upplever Sverige. Det har gett mig en ny bild av b\u00e5de Sverige och av utbytesstudenternas l\u00e4nder.<\/p>\n

N\u00e5gra stora utmaningar?<\/strong>Den st\u00f6rsta utmaningen \u00e4r att hitta bra v\u00e4rdfamiljer.<\/p>\n

N\u00e5got fint minne du vill dela med dig av?<\/strong>Jag var aktivitetsledare p\u00e5 sista aktiviteten innan utbytesstudenterna \u00e5kte hem. Det var superroligt att f\u00e5 h\u00f6ra hur bra m\u00e5nga l\u00e4rt sig svenska, jag var helt chockad av hur felfritt en av eleverna pratade. Annars har jag tyckt att alla fikastunder d\u00e4r jag pratat om livet med mina utbytesstudenter har varit superh\u00e4rliga.<\/p>\n

Kan ni rekommendera att vara LC?<\/strong>Absolut! Det \u00e4r ett j\u00e4tteroligt extrajobb och har absolut varit en bra erfarenhet.<\/p>\n

Har ni n\u00e5gra tips till framtida LC:s?<\/strong>Att vara d\u00e4r f\u00f6r utbytesstudenten och familjen \u00e4r viktigast. F\u00f6rs\u00f6k att hitta p\u00e5 n\u00e5got med utbytesstudenten kanske varannan m\u00e5nad. Det g\u00f6r s\u00e5 stor skillnad f\u00f6r studentens upplevelse och hj\u00e4lper er att f\u00e5 en bra relation.<\/p>\n

Har ni fortfarande kontakt med n\u00e5gra av dina studenter eller familjer?<\/strong>Jag har kontakt med alla mina studenter.<\/p>\n
